The Ministry of Caring Guild

The Ministry of Caring Guild is a membership organization comprised of many volunteers who dedicate themselves to fundraising, advocacy, and other forms of aid that assists the Ministry of Caring in serving the poor and homeless. The Guild was founded in 1990 by a group of women and men who believed that together they could make a difference in their community.

Since its inception, the Guild has raised millions of dollars to support the programs and facilities operated by the Ministry of Caring. Current fundraising efforts focus on four major annual events. Learn more about the Ministry’s programs.

  1. The Emmanuel Dining Room Auction, held each April, raises approximately one-third of the Emmanuel Dining Room’s annual budget, which feeds the hungry at three locations in Wilmington and New Castle, Delaware.
  2. The annual Recognition Banquet is a special evening to honor individuals and groups who have given countless hours of dedicated service to the poor over many years.
  3. A fall fashion show, Eleganza, supports the Ministry’s shelters for homeless women, women with children, and men.

Guild members give of their time and talents in ways best suited to their skills. Members span a range of ages and represent diverse professions and backgrounds. Their interests include marketing, event-planning, administrative and financial skills, trade specialties, and hands-on volunteering.
